Since this grass land is nearby to the coast, it is formally known as Some of the animals that are included here are koalas, kangaroos, emus, dingos, wallaby's, and lyre birds. Some of the common plant life that is found in and around Perth are acorn banksia, giant bamboo, dune mosses, giant reed, natal plum, and kei apple. The acorn banksia is actually one of the keystone species in Western Australia. This plant provides many honey eaters with food. If this species collapsed, a lot of the honey eaters would die out too. One example of an invasive species would be the Red Fox. This type of fox was introduced into Australia for hunting and the populations skyrocketed. One of the general indicator species that are in Australia are birds. Different types of birds are able to give humans information on what is happening in the environment.
CULTURE
The culture in Australia goes back 40,000 years into rich aboriginal history. The aborigines are a nomadic people who moved all over the continent of Australia, living in harmony with the environment. Not until the early 1800's did the Europeans have any influence in Australia. In 1829, the city of Perth was officially settled by the British. Now in modern times, the people of Perth still carry many European traditions and sports. Rugby and Soccer are enjoyed as recreation by Australians as well as cricket. There are also various surfing competitions that take place in Perth.
CLIMATE CHANGE
Climate change has become a major issue in Australia due to drastic climate events since the turn of the 21st century that have focused government and public attention. Rainfall in Australia has increased slightly over the past century, although there is little or no trend in rainfall in the Western Plateau and the Central Lowlands of Australia. Water sources in the southeastern areas of Australia have depleted due to increasing population in urban areas coupled with climate change factors such as persistent prolonged drought. At the same time, Australia continues to have the highest per capita greenhouse gas emissions.
